SEOUL, Dec. 11, 2024 Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) has announced an historic expansion of its partnership with Google to revolutionize in-vehicle navigation and infotainment experiences. Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles will be catapulted to a new dimension of connectivity and innovation through seamless integration with the Google Maps Platform and Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS).

Revolutionizing Navigation with Google Maps Platform

The collaboration brings on board the integration of Google Maps Platform’s Places API. The integration enhances navigation capability within the Group’s vehicles. Places API provides detailed, real-time information about more than 250 million locations worldwide, such as business hours, contact details, ratings, reviews, and more. This cutting-edge technology will enable drivers to drive confidently and conveniently.

Chang Song on the Partnership

According to Chang Song, President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s Advanced Vehicle Platform Division, the aim of this effort was entirely customer-centric.

“Hyundai Motor Group is developing technologies in SDV and mobility to provide customer-centered values. Our alliance with Google, who allows people to find a lot of useful information around the world, shall act as an opportunity for Hyundai Motor Group, broadening coverage on technology in the market for mobility and providing larger values to customers,” he said.

Equipping Vehicles with Android Automotive Operating System

Apart from the Places API, the Group has adopted Google’s Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS). This makes the vehicle’s software ecosystem much deeper, giving drivers familiar and intuitive interfaces.
