Polestar 3 Upgraded with New Features & Free Hardware Boost

Polestar 3 United States autosoto

The Polestar 3 continues on its innovation path with outstanding improvements that benchmark customer satisfaction. The last upgrade in June 2024 marked the first delivery to customers of a car that had already been improved with nine over-the-air (OTA) software updates to enhance the user experience and keep the vehicle cutting-edge since arrival. Altogether, there have been over 30 OTA software updates across Polestar’s range of three cars since the launch of the Polestar 2 in 2020, and this is the brand’s commitment to continuous improvement.

Latest OTA Software Update: New Features for Polestar 3

The most recent OTA software upgrade brings added punches in advanced features and makes Polestar 3 that much more intuitive and friendly to use. Walk-away locking is one of the core features, which locks the vehicle automatically when the driver walks away, thus offering enhanced comfort and security. An equally great enhancement is digital key functionality, which allows selected smartphones to unlock, lock, and start the vehicle without a physical key. The cross-compatible nature of this digital key feature ensures that various devices can use it seamlessly.

“With our over-the-air updates, we can continue to make our cars better over time, and with the latest updates for Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, we’ve done just that. Our customers asked for digital key functionality, and so we delivered. We’ll continue to add value for our customers over the lifetime of their cars.”

OTA Updates: More Than Just Features

OTA for Polestar does not only load new features; it enhances software stability, boosts driving dynamics, and refines active safety systems. Thanks to its centralized core computing system, Polestar 3 has the ability to receive comprehensive updates that will extend to the driving attributes and overall performance of the car, ensuring that it always remains at the cutting edge of automotive technology.

Major Hardware Upgrade for Model Year 2026

The use of an advanced upgrade feature is set for the 2026 model year saddling Polestar 3 from current NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier to the more advanced NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processor. This improvement would influence a big boost in computing power and further performance, safety, and driving experience of the vehicle.

Now, what makes it exceptional is the fact that the current owners of the Polestar 3 will get this hardware upgrade for free. The replacement will be installed at authorized Polestar service centers, with customers getting a notification on when it will be available. It is an effort of ensuring all Polestar 3 owners, regardless of when they purchased the vehicle, receive the best technology. It is a testimony to the commitment of the brand to ensuring the best user experience.

“Polestar 3, the first software-defined vehicle from Europe, gets even more brainpower. The ability to upgrade the hardware of our cars when new technologies become available is the perfect demonstration of our commitment to delivering the very best ownership experience to our customers. With the Orin processor upgrade, the already outstanding Polestar 3 gets even better.”

Google’s Car Ready Mobile Apps Program: More Entertainment & Utility

Polestar will be one of the first brands, along with Volvo, to implement Google’s Car Ready Mobile Apps program. The program will allow owners of the Polestar 3 to access a diverse range of new apps that have been optimized for large car screens. Among the first apps available will be popular entertainment options such as Farm Heroes Saga and F1 TV, allowing even more fun and activities while parked.

These apps are already running on the Polestar 2 and are expected on the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 later this year. The integration underlines Polestar’s commitment to enhancing the in-car experience, extending beyond the driving performance.
